The cover (2) has a tread (9) made of enrobed rubber textile material, and elastic cross bars for maintaining the cover around tire and cooperating with external and internal side walls (12, 13). The tread has a set of chevrons (10) that are projected from the tread. The tread is composed of sandwich structure comprising a series of friction strips that is fixed by adhesion of polymer binder material. The side walls comprise cuts (8) delimiting a series of shells (7). An independent claim is also included for a method for installing a textile anti-skid cover on the vehicle tire.
