Privilege branch port selection method for Internet protocol LAN network, involves selecting privilege branch port among branch ports based on load criteria in communication network considering estimated potential load

The method involves determining branch ports for connecting a terminal equipment e.g. server (110), to be branched, and determining connections between the equipment (110) and a terminal equipment e.g. media player (107). A transmission path is selected for each equipment, where the path is associated with the connections to transfer data between the equipments. Potential load to be induced by establishing the connections is estimated. A privilege branch port is selected among the branch ports based on load criteria in a communication network (100) by considering the estimated load. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer programmable product comprising instructions for implementing the privilege branch port selection method (2) a storage unit comprising instructions for implementing the privilege branch port selection method (3) a management device comprising a privilege branch port selection unit.
