The device has a chain for supporting a tool i.e. elongated flexible video probe (17), and provided with successive links (11) articulated with respect to each other. The chain has an end inserted by an opening of a steam generator (1), where the chain end is provided an end link (13) having cylinders for activating rotation of the end link relative to a link (14) located at the back in an introducing direction of the chain.
