The system i.e. electronic control unit (3), has a regulation device (31) for regulating supercharging pressure by acting upon variable geometry of a variable geometry turbine (15). A regulation device (43) regulates variable geometry of a variable geometry compressor (14). A determining device has a corrector for determining the rate and ratio of compression of the compressor. The determining device has a calculating block (34) with a memorized cartography for deducing set point of the variable geometry of the compressor for regulating the variable geometry of the compressor. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a supercharger of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle.
