The method involves fabricating a body (12) by injecting plastic material into a mold, where the body has a cylindrical shell (22) delimiting a cylindrical pipe (24) that presents a determined cylindrical shape after extraction of the body outside the mold and cooling. An internal core or insert (14) is provided and introduced in the pipe. The core is formed of a cellular structure. The pipe is formed from a mobile core provided in the mold. An independent claim is also included for an impact energy absorbing unit comprising a body.
