Training apparatus with ball attached via hub to a swinging arm

Ball training apparatus comprises bracket 2 and arm 3. Bracket 2 comprises upright, ground engaging post 4 defining a vertical axis (not shown), and upper fork (5, fig. 3) which rotates about the vertical axis defined by post 4. Arm 3 has striking member 12 at one end, and a second end is pivotally connected to the upper fork of bracket 2 allowing arm 3 to pivot about an axis perpendicular to the vertical axis defined by post 4. Striking member 12 comprises a resiliently deformable member mounted to hub 11, and hub 11 is rotatably connected to arm 3 for rotation about the longitudinal axis of arm 3. Striking member 12 may be spherical, have a spherical cover 12b, and/or include first and second padding means 12c, 12d, e.g. foam or inflatable bladders. Striking member 12 may comprise annular member 12a mounted on hub 11, and annular member 12a may comprise foam or inflatable material. Annular member 12a and first and second padding means 12c, 12d may be enclosed by cover 12b, with the padding means 12c, 12d maintaining the cover in a spherical shape (see fig. 5). The apparatus may be used for football or soccer training.
