PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a visible-light response catalyst powder which exhibits practicable photocatalytic performance even in e.g., an ordinary low-illuminance indoor environment. PSOLUTION: The visible-light response photocatalyst powder exhibits an organic gas decomposing ability which responds nonlinearly to a radiation dosage under visible light irradiation at a luminance in the range of 200-2,500 lx. The visible-light response photocatalyst powder shows a gas decomposition rate of 20% or higher when irradiated with, for example, visible light composed entirely of lights of wavelengths of 380 nm or longer and having a luminance of 2,500 lx. From gas concentration A and gas concentration B, the gas decomposition rate (%) is a value calculated according to [the formula: (A-B)/(A100)] (wherein as regard gas concentrations as measured when an acetaldehyde gas in an initial concentration of 10 ppm is passed through a flow reactor in which 0.2g of a sample is placed, A is the gas concentration before irradiation; and B is the gas concentration at the time when the gas concentration is stabilized after 15 min or longer has elapsed from the start of irradiation).
