PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing process by which a composite of a crystalline titania particle and a layered clay mineral having an improved heat resistance as a friction controller is simply manufactured at a low cost.;SOLUTION: The manufacturing process of a composite of crystalline titania particles-layered clay mineral comprises contacting the layered clay mineral with a hydrolyzable titanium compound in an aqueous medium and treating the solid obtained with superheated steam.
