PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a crystalline titania particle-layered clay mineral composite material containing no antimony compound, the composite material can reduce a wear amount and suppress reduction in a frictional coefficient when used as a friction adjusting material, as well as suppress moisture absorption and improve heat resistance.;SOLUTION: The production method of a crystalline titania particle-layered clay mineral composite material is characterized in that the following layered clay mineral is obtained by bringing a layered clay mineral into contact with a hydrolyzable titanium compound in an aqueous medium and then heat-treating the obtained solid content at over 850°C. The layered clay mineral thus obtained contains titania particles having a crystalline phase comprising a mixture of anatase and rutile crystals, having an intensity ratio defined by (diffraction intensity at 2θ=28°/diffraction intensity at 2θ=25°) derived from an X-ray diffraction spectrum, in a range from 0.6 to 5.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
