PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To conduct decoding without repeating wasteful decoding processing.;SOLUTION: A decoder decodes error-correction encoded information by repeating decoding processing. The decoder has a repetition-number determining section computing mutual information contents of the encoded information and determining the number of the decoding processing repeated on the basis of the computed mutual information contents. The decoder further has a storage section storing the relationship of the mutual information contents and the number of repetition. The repetition-number determining section specifies the number of the repetition corresponding to the computed mutual information contents from the relationship of the mutual information contents stored by the storage section and the number of the repetition, and uses the number of the repetition as the number of the repeated decoding processing.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
