PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixed resistor for a science teaching material capable of more increasing interests of science classes by providing a science teaching material that attracts the interests of students to reverse the trend of so-called "moving away from the science".;SOLUTION: The fixed resistor 1 shown in (A) and (B) is so constituted that: a carbon coat is applied as a resistance layer 3 on the surrounding surface of a cylindrical insulating base 2 formed of alumina or the like; a pair of cap-like electrodes 5 are provided at both right and left ends; a lead line 6 is fixed to the electrode; and an insulating coating 4 is applied on the surface of the resistance layer 3 by using insulating paint. The fixed resistor for the science teaching material 7 shown in (C) and (D) is obtained by forming, on the surface of the fixed resistor 1 shown in (A) and (B), a temperature-sensitive paint layer 8 by applying temperature-sensitive paint and drying it. An electric circuit is prepared by making use of and soldering the fixed resistor for the science teaching material. Upon energizing the prepared circuit, a conduction state can be recognized when the color of the temperature-sensitive paint layer changes, and defects in soldering can be recognized if the color does not change.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
