PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of displaying a photographed image as the background image of a display device installed in an external apparatus such as a portable telephone by a simple procedure. PSOLUTION: The imaging apparatus 100 for generating a background image for performing background-display on the display device provided to the other external apparatus from a photographed image includes: a display device information acquisition part 101 for acquiring display device information about the display capacity of the display device and added information display information about added information including characters or images to be displayed on the background image of the display device; an object recognition part 102 for recognizing an object included in the photographed image; an object size acquisition part 103 for acquiring information indicating the size of the object for the background image; and a background image generation part 104 for extracting all or a part of the photographed image and generating a background image from the extracted image.
