PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an agent for increasing blood adiponectin quantity, which derives from naturally occurring substances that can be safely used over a long period of time, has few side effects and prevents metabolic syndrome by increasing adiponectin concentration. PSOLUTION: The agent for increasing blood adiponectin quantity comprises a pulverized product or extract of a plant of the genus Salacia, e.g. Salacia oblonga, S. reticulata and S. prinoides.
