SCREENING APPARATUS FOR DRUG DEVELOPMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screening apparatus for drug development, the apparatus being able to reduce observing time in HCS by eliminating the need to scan an objective lens in each of well holes.;SOLUTION: The screening apparatus for drug development has a microscope that focus an observing optical system by using a focus error signal obtained by a focus error detecting optical system. In this screening apparatus, the focal point of the microscope is adjusted to a plurality of reference points on the bottom of a well plate on which an observation target is disposed. From the difference between the focusing positions of the reference points, the profile of the deflection of the entire bottom is estimated. When the observation target is observed, feed forward control is exerted based on the estimated value of the profile of the deflection, thereby focusing the measurement target.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
