PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evaluating durability of a magnetic disk, which simply and accurately evaluates durability of the magnetic disk surface satisfying severe requirements to the durability of the magnetic disk surface.;SOLUTION: A head with a hemispherical slider 2 mounted on a tip end of a suspension 1 is floated at a certain radial position of the magnetic disk surface 3, and the rotating speed of the magnetic disk is gradually increased from a stop state. The method evaluates the durability of a film formed on the magnetic disk surface, a carbon protection film for example, by detecting a point where the film on the magnetic disk surface breaks.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
