PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a solid state imaging apparatus which can photograph an image with high resolution in the night and day without requiring any special mechanism. PSOLUTION: In a solid state image sensor (image sensor) having sensitivity in visible light and near-infrared light, a pixel (R+G pixel) 401 which transmits the wavelengths of both red light and green light, a pixel (B+G pixel) 404 which transmit the wavelengths of both blue light and green light, a pixel (IR+G pixel) 402 which transmits the wavelengths of both near-infrared light and green light, and a pixel (IR pixel) 403 which transmits the wavelength only of near-infrared light are arranged, intensity formation is performed from R+G and B+G pixels in the noon and performed, respectively, from R+G, B+G, IR+G and IR pixels in the night, and the color information in the noon is obtained by subtracting the IR pixel from the IR+G pixel thereby determining the G pixel value, and subtracting the G pixel from the R+G pixel and B+G pixel thereby determining the R and B pixel values.
