PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser diode output power controller which extends working life of a laser diode and reduce oscillation wave length fluctuations by controlling the temperature of the laser diode used in an optical disk drive, and also provide an optical disk drive and a laser diode output power control method.;SOLUTION: A submount 34 having a chip of the laser diode 3 in the package is replaced by a Peltier element 6, and a temperature change from the previously set room temperature is detected through a comparator 7 by using the output power detected by a monitor diode 4 to be output to a driver 9 as an error signal. The Peltier element 6 is driven by the driver 9 based on the error signal to cool or heat the laser diode 3 to keep the output power constant.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
