PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat-plate solid oxide fuel cell in which an electrode assembly of the fuel cell is enabled to increase its electrical conductivity and to attain its resistivity reduction. PSOLUTION: A positive electrode base board is manufactured by repeated laminating and bonding processes of positive electrode green tapes formed by a tape casting method into a given thickness, and by a successive sintering process. After smoothing its front surface by a polishing process, an electrolyte layer is formed on the positive electrode base board by thin film forming method such as silk screen printing, followed by a sintering process, and then a negative electrode layer is formed similarly on the electrolyte layer, and is sintered again. The exposed surface of the positive electrode base board is removed by a polishing process by about 10 to 30 m in thickness, and a unit cell is completed. As the polishing process of the positive electrode surface removes a nickel-depleted layer formed by the sintering processes, all the SOFC battery assembly has high conductivity and low resistivity, and efficiency of the cells is improved.
