PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a unit for accurately matching pixels corresponding to a stereo image pair in real time.;SOLUTION: The unit for matching the pixel pair of a corrected stereo image pair maps pixels in an image of a range camera to pixels in the right and left images of a stereo camera system. The unit includes a foreground/background mapping module 146 for comparing the pixel value of the pixel in the range camera image with a threshold, and in response to the foreground/background mapping module 146, a disparity retrieval module 148 for selectively performing a first disparity retrieval or a second disparity retrieval, in regard to the pixel in the second image corresponding to the pixel in the first image.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
