PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated optical fiber comparison method for surely performing coated optical fiber comparison to an optical fiber with small bent loss, and to provide a coated optical fiber comparison device.;SOLUTION: In the coated optical fiber comparison method of a single mode optical fiber reducing bent loss, test wavelength is shorter wavelength than the effective cut-off wavelength of the optical fiber. The coated optical fiber comparison device including a transmission part having a light source making test light incident on the optical fiber, a coated optical fiber comparison part for generating leakage light by applying bending at a desired position of the optical fiber incident on the optical fiber, and a receiving part having a light receiving element detecting the leakage light includes a light source for carrying out the coated optical fiber comparison method and a coated optical fiber comparison part.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
