PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer having an inventory management function of a supply item (a label continuous body 2) itself and capable of warning when the residual quantity of the supply item is below a predetermined level and ordering the supply item 2 at good timing, and to provide its supply item residual quantity management method and a core tube for the supply item.;SOLUTION: In view of permitting order timing to be appropriately acquired if the extent of the supply item 2 used (consumed) by the printer itself is known, a data reading part 4 is provided for reading a merchandise code and a lot number on the supply item 2 from an RFID tag 12 mounted to a core tube 11 of the supply item 2, together with the number of entering. Based on the merchandise code and lot number from the data reading part 4 when mounting the supply item 2, the residual quantity of the supply item 2 is stored in an updatable manner in an inventory residual quantity counter 22, and the latest residual quantity of the supply item 2 can be detected.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
