PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a methane storage method that efficiently adsorbs methane while maintaining an in-tower temperature at a fixed level by discharging adsorption heat, caused by methane adsorption, with a circulating gas to the outside of a system. PSOLUTION: The methane storage method is configured as follows. An adsorption tower 7 is filled with metal lithium-carrying activated carbon 6 serving as a methane adsorbent. Methane is pressurized and introduced into the adsorption tower. The methane is adsorbed by being brought into contact with the adsorbent and stored. A circulation line from the rear of the adsorption tower to an inlet pressurization line is provided so that adsorption heat caused by methane adsorption is discharged to the outside of a system by a compressor after-cooler and by a circulating gas, thereby efficiently adsorbing the methane while maintaining an in-tower temperature at a fixed level. Further, a chiller unit 4 is provided at the rear of the compressor after-cooler so that methane having a temperature below the room temperature is supplied to the adsorption tower for adsorption.
