PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead-free piezoelectric ceramic sinterable at a low temperature.;SOLUTION: There is provided a sintering aid for producing the lead-free piezoelectric ceramic including a compound represented by the composition formula, x(Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3)-y(BaTiO3)-z(SrTiO3) (wherein x+y+z=1) as a main component. The sintering aid comprises copper oxide. The BNT-BT-ST-based piezoelectric ceramics can be densified at the firing temperature of ≤1,100°C by using the above sintering additive. As a result, piezoelectric devices can be made by using the lead-free piezoelectric ceramic, thus preventing damage to the natural environment.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
