PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polynucleotide useful for the diagnosis of intraperitoneal metastasis of gastric cancer.;SOLUTION: The composition for the intraperitoneal diagnosis of gastric cancer contains one or more polynucleotides selected from the group consisting of a polynucleotide showing the change in the expression level in a cell group included in an intraperitoneal wash liquid derived from a patient of gastric cancer with metastasis compared with a cell group included in an intraperitoneal wash liquid derived from a patient of gastric cancer free from metastasis, its variant or its fragment, more specifically a polynucleotide containing a base sequence expressed by the sequence numbers 1 to 48 or its complementary sequence, its variant, its fragment containing 15 consecutive bases, a polynucleotide hybridizable with either one of the polynucleotide under a stringent condition, or its fragment. There are also provided a kit, a DNA chip, and a method for detecting intraperitoneal metastasis of gastric cancer by using the composition, kit or DNA chip.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
