PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problems: abnormal propagation of algae in a closed water area, such as a pond, a canal, a lake, and the like, especially annual abnormal propagation of water-bloom in many ponds, causes the destruction of the scenery, offensive odors, and agricultural damage, and nitrogen and phosphorus are taken up as a cause of the abnormal propagation of algae to devise a countermeasure for preventing inflow of these substances into the closed area.;SOLUTION: A heavy metal scavenger (a chelating agent) is sprayed to inhibit propagation of phytoplankton (algae) in water. An area to be sprayed is a closed area, such as a pond, a canal, a lake, and the like, and is limited in the area. The heavy metal scavenger is used at the concentration of ≤1-5 ppm. As the heavy metal scavenger, dithiocarbamic acid type, thiourea type, iminodiacetic acid type, polyamine type, amidoxime type, aminophosphoric acid type, or the like is used.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
