PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provides a system and a method for autonomously tracking a moving target so that the target remains within a sensor visual field of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) regardless of a specific target moving pattern.;SOLUTION: This method and system use information about location of the target 116, a platform type and a state of the UAV 112, sensor payload capability, and a target-to-UAV speed ratio to select from a suite of sub-algorithms each of which generates a desired platform position (in form of a route fixed point) and/or sensor orientation commands to keep the target in the view field.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
