ON-BOARD NAVIGATION DEVICE, UPDATING TECHNIQUE OF MAP DATA, AND PATH SEARCHING TECHNIQUE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-board navigation device, an updating technique of map data, and a path search technique capable of implementing appropriate path searching when departure place or/and destination is located near a boundary of administrative districts, even if the version of map data of adjacent administrative districts is differ each other due to individual updating of map data.;SOLUTION: By storing a base layer map which is composed of share mesh of the parts corresponding to boundary domains between adjacent administrative districts and owned mesh of the parts corresponding to domains of any other administrative district is stored in a HDD, at the time of updating of a base layer map of the administrative district (A prefecture) to be updated, if the existing base layer map of the adjacent administrative district (B Prefecture) is decided as not identical version with a base layer map of A Prefecture for updating, a controlling section stores the base layer maps 31b and 34b of A Prefecture for updating into HDD so as to overlap the base layer maps 31b and 34b on the existing base layer map 32a and 34a of B Prefecture at the parts of share mesh 34a and 34b of those data.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
