PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an XML (Extensible Markup Language) document conversion apparatus and a method thereof to convert a document structure of an arbitrary XML document into a numerical value, to provide an XML document restoration apparatus and a method thereof to restore the numerical value into the document structure, and to provide an XML document processing apparatus including both the apparatuses. PSOLUTION: The XML document conversion apparatus is provided with a node name extraction part 31 for extracting a node name of each node from an XML document, a node type extraction part 32 for extracting a node type of each node from the XML document, a node depth measurement part 33 for measuring node depth when each node of the XML document is expressed by a tree structure, a polygonal line conversion part 34 for converting a sequence obtained by successively arranging node depths into the shortest route from the upper left end point of to the lower left end in a grating and a numerical value conversion part 35 for outputting a structure number corresponding to the shortest route converted by the polygonal line conversion part 34 to a numerical value storage part 50.
