PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recording information, capable of preventing the impossibility of recording/updating specific information caused by the shortage of an area for a specific use (trial recording, driving control information or the like) other than the recording of user data.;SOLUTION: When detecting the impossibility of using a trial recording area for obtaining optimal recording/reproducing conditions in the combination of a recording medium with a recorder, trial recording is carried out in a data recording area, and management information including an address pointer indicating the position of the trial recording is recorded in a defect management area.
