PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow accurate diagnosis of a fault of an oscillation circuit portion.;SOLUTION: A proximity sensor with an oscillation circuit portion diagnosing function includes the oscillation circuit portion 3 decreasing in oscillation amplitude level as a detection body 11 approaches and a signal processing circuit portion 7 to output an operation signal when the oscillation amplitude level decreases to reach a certain level as the detection body 11 approaches. While the oscillation circuit portion 3 is normal, the oscillation circuit portion 3 continues to oscillate even after the approach distance of the detection body 11 decreases and the oscillation amplitude level reaches the certain level, and it is determined that when the oscillation circuit portion 3 stops oscillating, the oscillation circuit portion 3 gets out of order.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
