PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface coated cemented carbide cutting tool with a hard coating layer exhibiting excellent wear resistance in high-speed cutting of a hard-to-cut material.;SOLUTION: This surface coated cemented carbide cutting tool comprises the hard coating layer formed on the surface of a tungsten carbide group cemented carbide or carbonitride titanium-based cermet substrate. The hard coating layer consists of (a) a lower layer formed of a (Ti, Al)N layer having the average layer thickness of 1-10 μm and satisfying a composition formula: (Ti1-XAlX)N, wherein X is 0.30-0.70 at the atomic ratio, (b) an adhesive joint layer formed of a CrN layer having the average layer thickness of 0.1-3 μm, and (c) an upper layer formed of a Cr dispersed Cr2O3 layer having the average layer thickness of 1-10 μm and texture with metal Cr dispersedly distributed in a base material of Cr2O3 at 0.1-5 atomic % as an occupancy rate in the total amount with Cr2O3.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
