PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new type insecticidal agent capable of preventing an insect damage to a fiber product by a fiber pest by setting a using concentration to a value lower than that of the conventional insecticidal agent. ;SOLUTION: This inhibitor for hatching a fiber pest egg includes one or not less than two kinds selected from the following compounds (1) to (7) as an active ingredient: (1) a ≤15C polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon; (2) a ≤15C chlorinated aromatic hydrocarbon; (3) a ≤15C aliphatic alcohol; (4) a 5-12C aliphatic carbonyl compound; (5) a 4-15C aliphatic ester having not only one ester bond but also one or more unsaturated bonds and/or oxygen atoms; (6) an aliphatic or a cyclic ether having three or more oxygen atoms in a molecule; and (7) a compound containing one or more oxygen atoms, and one or not less than two atoms selected from nitrogen atom, sulfur atom and a halogen atom.
