PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the temperature of a heating furnace in a short period of time without generating nitrogen oxide (NOX) etc.;SOLUTION: A method for lowering the temperature in the heating furnace is provided, wherein the atmospheric temperature in the heating furnace 1 heating a steel material 4 while continuously conveying it, is lowered by blowing steam into the heating furnace 1 when the steel material 4 heated with lowered atmospheric temperature reaches the inside of the heating furnace 1. In particular, the heating furnace 1 is provided with a preheating zone 10A, a heating zone 10B and a soaking zone 10C, and it is preferable that when the steel material 4 as a heating object reaches the soaking zone 10C, the steam is blown into the soaking zone 10C.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
