PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal colloid having virtually no by-product, a controlled particle dimension, and stabilized property. PSOLUTION: There is provided a metal colloid, binary metal colloid, or multi-component metal colloid, which contains metals of groups Ib, IIb, III, IV, V, VI, VIIb, VIII, and lanthanoids and/or actinoides of the periodic table and is soluble or redispersible to an organic medium, wherein the particle dimension is less than 50 nm, and quaternary ammonium or phosphonium salt exists (RSP1/SPRSP2/SPRSP3/SPRSP4/SPNSP+/SPXSP-/SPor RSP1/SPRSP2/SPRSP3/SPRSP4/SPPSP+/SPXSP-/SPrespectively, RSP1/SP, RSP2/SP, RSP3/SP, RSP4/SP, being the same or different and being CSB1-18/SBalkyl or aryl group) as a supporting electrolyte and/or as a stabilizer.
