PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base station apparatus which includes a plurality of BBP (Base-Band Processing) cards that correspond to respective areas and a method of relieving an area in case of a fault in the base station apparatus, aiming to maintain communication in a communication area covered by a sector even when a fault happens in a BBP card that corresponds to the sector.;SOLUTION: The base station apparatus includes fault detecting means for detecting a faulty BBP card, means for selecting another BBP card for relieving the area which is covered by shared radio channels of the faulty BBP card, means for directing reconfiguration of shared radio channels for the mobile machines subordinate to the selected BBP card for the relief, a control section provided with means for directing degeneracy in and transfer to the BBP card for the relief, and a card for the relief having means for executing degeneracy of the shared radio channels thereof according to the shared radio channels directed by the control section and user status and means for transferring the shared radio channels of the faulty card to the card for the relief, wherein the base station apparatus is so constituted that the signal processing for the area of the faulty card can be relieved by the other BBP card.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
