PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation method of a coal pyrolysis gasification furnace for stably and surely starting a coal pyrolysis gasification furnace while reducing initial equipment cost.;SOLUTION: The operation method of the coal pyrolysis gasification furnace, which has a two-chamber two-stage structure consisting of a gasification chamber in the lower stage having a preheating section in the lower part and a pyrolysis reforming chamber in the upper stage connected to the gasification chamber via a throat section and is operated at operating pressure of 1 MPa or more (gauge pressure), includes the following processes. In starting the coal pyrolysis gasification furnace, the inside of the coal pyrolysis gasification furnace is preheated using a preheating burner of normal pressure specifications installed inside the preheating section, and after stopping the preheating burner on completion of the preheating, the pressure of the coal pyrolysis gasification furnace is increased. On completion of the increase of the pressure, one or two kinds of coal and char are blown into a gasification section along with oxygen, and coal is blown into the pyrolysis reforming chamber.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
