PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently discharge accumulated sediment by releasing a flood sluice gate while scheming the pressure distribution by a water stream.;SOLUTION: This method of discharging sediment accumulated on the bottom of a water reservoir 2 backed up by a dam 1 comprises dredging one water channel 8 formed in an approximately inverted trapezoidal cross section sloping at a gentle gradient to be gradually shallower right below the dam 1 toward the upstream side, and opening the flood sluice gate 3 provided in the dam 1 to cause a high pressure water stream in the water channel 8, whereby surrounding sediment is collapsed and discharged to the downstream side together with the water stream while widening the water channel 8.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
