PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a personal authentication method and device that have remarkably high accuracy compared with conventional methods and devices by utilizing an ocular fundus blood flow rate map obtained by irradiating the ocular fundus with a laser light flux. PSOLUTION: The laser light flux is expanded and applied to an eye fundus and light reflected from retinal blood vessels of the eye fundus and blood vessel layers in eye fundus tissue is focused as a laser speckle on an image sensor by using an optical system. The amount representing the speed of a change in time of the amount of light received in each pixel of the laser speckle is calculated, and a blood flow map of the eye fundus is obtained by using the calculated value as a two-dimensional map. At least one of the following information is used to compare and verify it with pre-registered personal data: blood flow distribution data observed in the blood flow map, a pattern reflecting the routes of the retinal blood vessels, a pattern observed in a manner superposed thereon and to which routes of the retinal blood vessels are reflected, and data on time lapse changes thereof.
