The method involves encrypting data (DATA) with a transfer key (RAND) by a depositor using a symmetric encrypting method e.g. data encryption standard method, and encrypting the transfer key with a public key (pkB)of a trusted third party by the depositor using an asymmetric encrypting method e.g. rivest shamir adelman method. The encrypted data and the encrypted transfer key are deposited on a storage support. The transfer key is generated by the depositor in a random manner before encrypting the data with the transfer key. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method of recovering data (2) a device for securing data (3) a device for recovering data.
