PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light weight brake member excellent in wear and oxidation resistances.;SOLUTION: Pellets of metal silicon are disposed with a specified interval on one surface of a 20 mm-thick C/C composite plate. The metal silicon is made to impregnate in the base material and sintered to obtain a silicon carbide metal silicon C/C composite body having a plurality of projections on the surface. After the surface is finished by grinding, water glass is applied on the part having no projection to form an oxidation-resistant film.
