PKI-enabled certificate confirmation processing method and apparatus, as well as PKI-enabled certificate confirmation processing program

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate extension when the type of certificate to be handled is increased without adding or altering the processing using the private key of public encryption.;SOLUTION: A VPN (Virtual Private Network) client 1 and M access gateways 3, 4 and 5 have a pair of keys (a private key and a public key) of a public key encryption, respectively. When authentication information using a sign of PKI (Public key Infrastructure) is sent to the access gateways 3, 4 and 5 from the VPN client 1, the access gateway requests verification of the authentication information not to the access gateway but to authentication servers 8, 9 and 10 through an authentication server proxy 7, and receives only the verification results. To the contrary, authentication information using a sign of PKI being sent to the VPN client from the access gateway is created only at the access gateway. The access gateway and the authentication server handle a series of PKI authentication information while sharing the role.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
