PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium insertion mechanism and an electronic device equipped with the recording medium insertion mechanism that can prevent even if inadvertently inserted a coin or a recording medium smaller in a width than that of the recording medium that should by right be inserted into a slot from reaching a connector.;SOLUTION: The system comprises a pathway that guides the recording medium 40 inserted from the insertion slot 3 to the connector 8, a shutter 13 that moves from a closed position where it shuts the pathway, to an open position where it goes off the pathway, and a pair of locks 14a and 14b having engagement parts 29a and 29b, respectively, which interlock with the shutter 13 in a closed position.
