PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonoriented silicon steel sheet which has low core loss in a high frequency-high magnetic flux density region, has small residual magnetic flux density, and is suitable for a switched reluctance motor. SOLUTION: The component of the steel are controlled to a composition containing, by mass, =0.0050% C and 0.1 to 7.0% Si. Further, its residual magnetic flux density Br1.8 when magnetized to 1.8 T is controlled to =1.0 T, or its core loss W15/800(L+C) to =150 W/kg.
