PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To emphasize only a desirable color of an object by obtaining a corrected color signal while adding a luminance signal to a result of nonlinear operation. ;SOLUTION: The luminance signal Y and color difference signals R-Y, G-Y, B-Y are generated from R, G, B signals as input signals by a matrix circuit 1. A color difference signal emphasizing circuit 4 is provided with different degrees of amplification according to levels of the color difference signals and outputs color difference signals (R-Y)', (G-Y)', (B-Y)' which are formed by partially emphasizing the color difference signals R-Y, G-Y, B-Y. The color difference signals (R-Y)', (G-Y)', (B-Y)' are added to the luminance signal Y to be outputted from the matrix circuit 1 with an adder 3. Color signals R", G", B" which are partially emphasized from each signal are outputted by the adder 3. Namely, the nonlinear operation with different multiplication coefficients are performed for plural color difference signals to indicate difference between the color signal and the luminance signal at two or more levels of the color different signals and the corrected color signals are obtained by adding the luminance signal to results of the nonlinear operation.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
