A powdered tocopheryl polyethylene glycol succinate (TPGS(TM)) having an average particle size of less than about 1000 microns. In one embodiment, the powdered tocopheryl polyethylene glycol succinate is prepared by a process that includes atomizing a fluidic tocopheryl polyethylene glycol succinate into an environment suitable for solidifying the atomized tocopheryl polyethylene glycol succinate. In another embodiment, the powdered tocopheryl polyethylene glycol succinate is prepared by a process of applying a force to a solid tocopheryl polyethylene glycol succinate starting material that is sufficient to produce a powdered product.
