PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for detecting in vivo gene expression as a method for determining life and death of a functional cell, an ES cell, etc., in cell transplantation treatment, expression monitoring of a treatment gene in gene therapy, etc., since recently cell transplantation treatment using an embryonic stem cell in reproduction treatment is being actualized and gene therapy seems to be established as one of selection of actual clinical treatment with finding of embryonic stem cell and tissue stem cell, establishment of its cultured cell strain and successive development of differentiation induction conditions to specific cells, however, in the present state of things, a technique for accurate grasp is not obtained except collection and investigation in many cases.;SOLUTION: Expression of in vivo gene is noninvasively detected by Mer protein containing a synthetic steroid derivative to selectively combine with Mer protein produced by expression of transformed cell having plasmid incorporated with a gene (Mer) encoding a variant estrogen receptor having no binding ability to natural estrogen as a reporter gene.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
