PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric ceramic composition essentially consisting of a bismuth laminar compound consisting of Sr, Bi, Nb and oxygen, and trivalent metallic elements other than Bi, and in which the rate of change in temperature of oscillation frequency, FOSC TC in the temperature range of 0 to 80°C is ≤10 ppm/°C, and which is useful as the material for a piezoelectric ceramic element such as a piezoelectric ceramic oscillator.;SOLUTION: In the piezoelectric composition essentially consisting of a bismuth laminar compound consisting of of Sr, Bi, Nb and oxygen, and trivalent metallic elements other than Bi, provided that the molar ratios among Sr, Bi, Nb and trivalent metallic elements other than Bi in the bismuth laminar compound as the essential components are defined as a:b:c:x, the relations of 0.275a/c0.5, 1b/c, (2a+3b)/c4 and 0.075≤x/c≤0.15 are satisfied.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
