PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving mechanism design supporting device and a method for surely predicating the behavior of a driving mechanism such as an image reading device and to provide a storage medium . PSOLUTION: In this driving mechanism design supporting device 1, a driving transmitting belt 26 is wound around a driving shaft pulley 23 mounted on a driving shaft 22 whose rotation is driven by a driving motor 21 and a driven shaft pulley 32 mounted on a driven shaft 31 given an arbitrary load, and the driven shaft 31 is rotated through the driving transmitting belt 26 according to the rotation of the driving shaft 22 so that the behavior of the driving mechanism of an image reading device can be predicted. A relation between the rotation rate and time of the driving shaft 22 and a relation between the rotation rate and time of the driven shaft 31 are measured by measuring parts 25 and 34 so that behavior prediction can be executed. Therefore, it is possible to predict the behavior of the whole driving mechanism without completing the design of the whole driving mechanism of the image reading device, and to carry out proper design while shortening a design period.
