PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copper green glaze useful for firing at low temp., which contains no harmful metal component such as lead and has resistance to acids and alkalis, excellent glossiness and transparency and further which has the same performance as that of the conventional lead-containing copper green glaze used for firing at low temp. ;SOLUTION: A copper compound is incorporated into a frit which is obtained by incorporating at least one of the oxides of rare earth elements, hafnium oxide and the oxides containing elements of group VB in the Periodic Table into a mixture comprising silicon dioxide, alumina, boron oxide, zinc oxide, zirconium oxide, titanium oxide, an alkaline earth metal oxide and an alkali metal oxide.
