PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grinding wheel and other associated matters capable of being embodied in a lightweight construction, preventing its disc-shaped base board from warping and also the mixture of abrasive grains and a binder from partially flowing to the side face part located inner more than the periphery of the base board and solidifying, involving less elongation and thermal deformation when the mixture is sintered, and free from bending, burring, etc., owing to rubbing with work material when cutting to result in a heat generation.;SOLUTION: The grinding wheel is composed of the disc-shaped base board 11 and a superabrasive grain layer 15 formed on the periphery 12 of the board 11 by sintering a mixture M of superabrasive grains and binder followed by a finishing process, wherein the two side faces of the layer 15 protrude from the mating side faces 13A and 13B of the board 11 where runoffs are formed on both sides, and the board 11 is made of a carbonic material reinforced with carbon fibers, and the superabrasive grain layer 15 is formed by sintering the mixture M in such a condition that the runoff amounts C1' and C2' on the two sides turn to the same before the finishing process.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
